The Magic Wizard and three men

There was this wizard who caught 3 men {let’s just say Mr.A, B and C}. The wizard wanted to kill all three of them, but they pleaded and so the wizard gave them a chance.

The wizard put the 3 men on flight of stairs, A first {A is on top of the flight of stairs} followed by B {B is in the middle} , and then C {C is at the base} , in this order:

      -|A
        -|
          -|B
            -|
              -|C
                -|
                  -|

They were stationed in such a way that A can see B and C, and B can only see C, but can’t see A, and C can see none.

They were then blindfolded, and on each of their head, he put a coloured cap, the colour of the cap can only either be black or white, however, there will be either 2 black 1 white, or 2 white and 1 black, either way the 3 men don’t know, all that they know is that there will be either black or white cap on their head, and that there will be either 2 white or 2 black cap on the 3 of them, which one they don’t know.

So the wizard want them to tell him what coloured hat is on their head within the next 5 seconds after he removed the blindfold. Any one who could answer correctly would save the life of all 3 men.

Then, the wizard removed the blindfold……
After 4 seconds, the one in the middle {B} answer the question, and it was correct, how did he do it?

Hint: Whatever the answer is doesn’t matter, even if it is white or black, the most important thing is how he got the answer.

Hint: What did the man on top see {A}?

Gameshow - Easy Money

At some point in team you were wondering … what if I could compete in a game show and earn some money fast … That should be real easy money. So after the selection, you were allowed to compete. During this episode of the game show ….

… you have made it to the final! The crowd is going wild!

Before you, you can see 10 closed doors.

The host tells you: ‘9 doors reveal nothing, one door hides a Ferrari…
If you choose the right one, it’s yours !’

You think and decide to take a door.
Just before opening that door, the host stops you…

Before your eyes he opens eight other doors
to let you see there is nothing behind those doors.

Your door is still closed and he has left one other door closed too.

Now he asks: ‘Which door do you want to open ?
The one you already choose, or the one I am offering ?’

Which door do you choose ?

For the record:
- the game host does know where the ferrari is
- the game host has done the same with every contestant and will do the same every time (that is: opening eight empty doors, etc.).

Money - USD 29

Three people check into a hotel. They pay $30 to the manager and go to their room. The manager finds out that the room rate is $25 and gives $5 to the bellboy to return. On the way to the room the bellboy reasons that $5 would be difficult to share among three people so he pockets $2 and gives $1 to each person.

Now each person paid $10 and got back $1. So they paid $9 each, totalling $27. The bellboy has $2, totalling $29.

Where is the remaining dollar?

4 people cross a river

Two men and two women stand on a riverbank. They would like to get on the other side with a boat. Unfortunately, the boat can only carry as much as two people.

The 4 people can not cross the river at the same speed. One women is able to cross it in 5 minutes and the other in 10. The men can cross it in 20 and 25 minutes. (This means that if a men is in the boat, the minimum cross time - one way - will be 20 minutes.)

How can they cross the river in one hour ?

Fox, chicken and grain

There was a guy who had a Fox, a Chicken, and a bag of Grain.

He had to cross a river to get back home, but he could only take one item with him at a time. He could only take the fox, or the grain, or the chicken.

Well, if you leave a chicken and a fox on one side of the river while taking the bag of grain accross, the fox will eat the chicken, same thing with the chicken and the grain. Can’t leave those two alone or the chicken will eat the grain.

How do you get them all accross the river safely?

Dime turns into a dollar

Do you want to make some money?
OK, let’s say you have a dime.

If you square $0.10 it equals to this $ 0.01.
$(0.10)^2 = $ 0.01.
So you will get a penny :-(

However if you square 10 cents you get 100 cents.
(10 cents)^2 = 100 cents.
So you just earned a full dollar out of a dime :-)

For the visitors who do not understand it right away, Tom has sent in this explanation:
‘Just looking at the cent into a dollar puzzle. One line reads: $(0.10)^2 = $ 0.01. This is very wrong.
1cm ^2 = .1cm x .1cm = .01 (cm^2).
Now, I don’t know what a square-dollar is, but $(0.10)^2 certainly is$^2(.01).
Anyway, I suppose the problem should be restated to ask what went wrong? or what makes this possible? and the solution should be the above.’
